Perth Plantation Shutters are made from Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata).
The choice of wood for the shutter will determine its life, durability and look.
Western Red Cedar has been used by the Egyptians over 4,000 years ago and found it the pyramids, this is valid proof of quality and of its high standard in usage before shutters were ever created. Indians used to carve their totems out of Western Red Cedar which are still standing and they used to build canoes using the same wood.
There is a variety of wood that is used in shutters that didn't make the grade and the premium quality that Perth Plantation Shutters offer. These include, Cottonwood and MDF.
